Virtual Internship Program

An Opportunity: Virtual Internship Program (V.I.P)

Choosing a career at a young age is hard. Today, with the seemingly endless possibilities of career options, students are more confused than ever. According to a recent survey, 93% of Indian students only know 7 career option - Engineering, Accounts & Finance, Computer Applications & IT, Medicine, Management, Law, and Designing. The risk of choosing conventional careers out of fear or lack of knowledge looms large. Parents and students should instead be striving to balance the student’s passions, capabilities, and potential in search of their future career.

Another scenario is that some students know what they want to choose but they wonder if it is the right choice. It is very easy to form an imaginative picture in your mind of what your desired career will be like. But, at the same time, you wonder if it will be something you’ll enjoy. You wonder if it will be a good fit for who you are as a person. You wonder how life will be like as that professional. You wonder if it will make you happy.

If all this sounds familiar, it’s because millions of students are in the same place as you.

A survey found that only 55% of students attending high school feel prepared to enter the real world. Learning the practical and soft skills most suited to one’s desired career line is essential to succeed in the workforce, something that isn’t often taught in schools.

So, in order to bridge this gap between theory and practice, Strelitzia Consulting is commencing a Virtual Internship Program, an online program that provides an opportunity for students (ages 12-18) to familiarize themselves with any of the 18 career options offered, and learn the practical and soft skills involved in their chosen careers through the guidance of industry experts, from the comfort of their homes. It focuses on a hands-on approach to foster the best kind of learning. The program involves engaging videos by industry experts, immersive simulated activities that test the skills learned, and a comprehensive in-depth assessment report of the student’s skills analysed by expert psychologists.

The team has tried its best to combine insights from industry experts with hands-on skills that are needed in the workforce. For example, Psychology, one of the career options offered, is led by Psychologist Ms. Janvi Sutaria. She first explains the various aspects of a psychologist’s life (different specialization options, challenges, work-life balance, etc) and then guides the student through real-life clinical tasks (patient history taking, diagnosis, CBT therapy, etc) as well as certain soft skills needed (problem responsivity, verbal expression, etc). Each skill learned is tested at every step to provide an efficient learning environment for the student. All 18 careers offered follow a similar path, providing room for a future designer, lawyer (or even ethical hacker!) to immerse themselves into the career world of their choice.

Building a mental skillset at an early age has shown to provide an advantage and strong base for future skills. It equips an individual not only with skills, but also the confidence that they can navigate the tricky waters of uncertainty.

It is a big world out there and if each student can catch even a glimpse of their future life, the world can appear a little smaller and manageable.

To make intelligent career choices by experiencing it virtually, choose from any of our online internship programs. It is recommended that you combine this with our signature Career Assessment Program to get an objective and wholistic picture.
